UK / US / Aus / NZ Versions: Debut albums! Again!

Nick Lowe, Jesus of Cool (1978): Lowe's debut album had eleven tracks in its original UK edition on Radar Records. The US version on Columbia had a running order shake-up, as well as replacing two tracks and adding another. A live cut of "Heart Of The City" that ended the UK album was swapped out for the original B-side version, and "Shake And Pop" got the boot to make room for "They Called It Rock", which is the same song but with a different chorus and more of a boogie-woogie feel to it ("They Called It Rock" was actually a track by Lowe's side project group Rockpile). The new track on the US edition was "Rollers Show", a 1976 single on the United Artists label. In addition to all this, the title was changed to Pure Pop For Now People, and three of the six photographs of Lowe on the album cover were exchanged for new ones as well.

Buzzcocks, Singles Going Steady (1979): The first two studio albums by Buzzcocks (Another Music In A Different Kitchen and Love Bites) weren't released in America, making the singles compilation Singles Going Steady their US debut. No changes needed to be made because the record was specially made for overseas release. After word of the album made it back to the UK, the sleeve of the band's third studio effort A Different Kind Of Tension bore the legend "this is only the third album" along the spine of the jacket, just so consumers wouldn't be confused. Not long after, Singles Going Steady got a UK release as well.

Models, Local &/Or General (1982): A Melbourne-based group, Models' first LP AlphaBravoCharlieDeltaEchoFoxtrotGolf was not released overseas. The second album and international debut, Local &/Or General, did get released in the UK and Europe by A&M Records, but with the running order turned inside out. The songs "Atlantic Romantic" and "Two Cabs To The Toucan" were added to the British version, nudging out the group's cover of the Tornadoes' "Telstar" (which was just a drastically edited-down version of a B-side anyhow). The replacement songs were taken from the EP Cut Lunch. The 'personal ad' that came at the end of the song "Unhappy" was also removed from A&M's version.

Shriekback, Care (1983): For its US release, the two instrumental tracks from this album ("Hapax Legomena" and "In : Amongst") were taken out to make room for the singles "My Spine Is The Bassline" and "Accretions". Also, the running order was altered.
